Dr Xavier Moar is a General Surgeon specialising in Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric and Endocrine surgery. Dr Moar is passionate about holistic, patient-centred care. He is motivated towards excellent patient outcomes and keeps current in all areas of his practice. 

Dr Moar grew up in a farming family in country Victoria. After obtaining a Bachelor of Medical Science and then a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Sydney, he began his medical career as a junior doctor at the Gold Coast Hospital. 

He completed specialist training in General Surgery at Eastern Health in Melbourne and a fellow year in Upper Gastrointestinal and Endocrine surgery at The Northern Hospital. Dr Moar was fortunate to relocate to Toowoomba in 2020 and now calls this beautiful region home. 

Dr Moar’s consulting rooms are located within St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba. As well as operating at St Vincent’s, he also operates at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital and the Toowoomba Surgicentre. Dr Moar is motivated to ensure that country people have access to world-class healthcare close to home. He conducts regular outreach to Kingaroy and Stanthorpe for consultations, endoscopy and day-case procedures. Dr Moar also holds a public appointment at the Toowoomba Hospital. 

Dr Moar is regularly involved in teaching medical students for the University of Queensland and the Griffith University Medical Schools, and he is an Instructor of the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) course with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. 

In his spare time, Xavier enjoys time with his children and jogging.
